TaxiTraining.co.uk is the only company in Northern Ireland specifically designed to cater for the needs of anyone wishing to become a taxi driver.

TaxiTraining.co.uk is part of Hendron school of motoring, which is owned by Anthony Hendron and is based in Lurgan, Co Armagh. Anthony is a practicing approved driving instructor for over 20 years in both north and south of Ireland, he has been involved in the driving industry for 30 years.

A number of years ago we saw a gap in the market to provide practical and theory training for people who are seeking to become a taxi driver and we have the confidence, experience and knowledge to provide the skills required to succeed.


Practical Driver Training

Anyone applying to become a taxi driver must pass a practical driving test.

You will take your practical driving test on both rural and urban roads, you will be driving for at least one hour, you must satisfy the examiner that:

  • You have good knowledge of road safety standards and you can put them into practice.
  • You can drive a vehicle taking into account passengers, safety and comfort.
  • A very high standard of driving is expected.
  • You must prove you are a confident and competent driver.

A range of skills, qualities and knowledge is necessary to successfully passing your practical driving test and we at Taxitraining.co.uk can provide the necessary skills to pass your practical test.


Taxi Driver Theory Test

If you're applying to become a taxi driver you must pass your theory test, your theory test will consist of two parts then you will be able to apply for your practical driving test.

What happens during the test?

  • There will be a series of multiple choice questions.
  • Also, there will be a series of hazard perception video clips.

Multiple choice section

Your knowledge of road safety and operating and as a taxi driver will be tested on the following areas:

  • Such as all aspects of sustainable and economical driving e.g. eco-safe driving and how to care for the environment.
  • Also, dealing with customers e.g. customer service, care of vulnerable passengers and passengers safety and comfort.

The mark scheme will be out of 100 for the multiple-choice section and a pass could range from 80-100. Furthermore, you must show a broad understanding of all topic areas.

Hazard perception test

You will be expected to:

  • To identify and recognise potential hazard in a series of video clips

To achieve the maximum score, you must be capable of identifying and recognising hazards early.

We at Taxitraining.co.uk can help provide the material and confidence to successfully pass your theory test, this can be one to one tuition or in groups.

Taxi Driver Periodic Training

In September 2015, taxi driver periodic training was introduced to Northern Ireland, the purpose of the training was to improve and educate taxi drivers in the industry and help them to develop more skills. We can provide two different courses and our courses are to cater for everyone's needs.
